Current and Proposed Layout and Use of School Playing
Field
For
those of you not so familiar with the layout or nomenclature of the area
occupied by FCC, here is a satellite view that should explain everything:
The
top part of School Playing Field contains a small cricket pitch with a single
artificial wicket. The wicket itself is nearing the end of its useful life and
the boundary is less than fifty metres to the north and the south:
We
will make a slight improvement to the total playing area this year by adjusting
the boundaries:
But… this pitch is still not a suitable playing area for the level of
cricket played there - currently East of Scotland Division 5. Normally this
pitch would only be used every second Saturday for 3rd XI home
league fixtures, a few junior games and a bit of practice but this year will
see more competitive use on both Saturdays and Sundays.
The
proposal is that Falkland Cricket Club gives up this ground as there is an intention
to develop the whole School Playing Field as a camp site. To see where we
propose to play instead, continue on to the next link below.
